The opening
Ca y est ! C’est le grand jour ! Nous y sommes : nous OUVRONS ! Après avoir rencontré les principaux de toutes les écoles des environs et avoir fait passer un message dans les journaux et la radio locale, tout le monde est censé être au courant de ce grand événement. Et c’est ce qui explique pourquoi, en ce Samedi 10 octobre, 8h du matin …. Il n’y a que l’enseignante de l’école Peri Naua et sa fille. Faux départ vous pensez ? Détrompez-vous, ce n’était que le calme avant la tempête ! En effet à peine une heure après, une vague déferlante d’enfants envahit les lieux en dévorant tous les livres à leur portée ! Ces enfants qui, pour la plupart, découvrent une bibliothèque pour la première fois font preuve d’une curiosité insatiable, passant d’un livre à l’autre comme pour en feuilleter ou en lire le plus possible. Nous sommes un peu débordés par cette ambiance désordonnée qui met sans dessus dessous la bibliothèque et notre joli petit rangement. Même les quelques parents présents s’y mettent ! Maisqu’importe, ils sont heureux et ça se voit ! Ainsi, en cette première matinée d’ouverture, ce seront 50 enfants qui auront bénéficié de ce lieu encore sans vie jusqu’à présent, nous donnant bon espoir pour la suite.
That's it ! That's it ! The big day is there ! Here we are: we OPEN! After meeting the principals of all schools in the area and having passed a message in newspapers and local radio, everyone is supposed to having heard about this great event. And that is the reason why in this Saturday, October 10, 8 am .... Only the teacher of the school Peri Naua and daughter are there. False start you thinking? Think again, it was only the calm before the storm! Indeed only an hour later, a tidal wave of children invades the place by devouring all the books available to them! These children, who, mostly, discover a library for the first time, demonstrate an insatiable curiosity, moving from one book to another as if they wanted to browse or read as much as possible.We are a bit overwhelmed by this chaotic atmosphere that puts upside down the library and our nice little storage. Even the few parents who are present are getting into! But no matter, they are happy and it shows! Thus, in this first opening morning, it will be 50 children who benefit from this place without life so far, giving us hope for the future.
